On March 10, 2018, Burlingame Hall in Sonoma was transformed into A Night in Tokaj, as the Tokaj Committee hosted our bi-annual fundraiser.  The evening featured a full Hungarian dinner (prepared by Committee  members), including fine Hungarian pastries for dessert.  A team of Hungarian Hussars (light cavalry unit) made their entrance to start off the festivities, and attendees were entertained by a small Hungarian choir singing traditional songs.  There were also demonstrations of Hungarian folk dancing, and the evening was rounded out by everyone in the room joining a Hungarian « conga line. »

Count Agoston Haraszthy (aka George Webber) conducted an auction for some wonderful prizes, and there was also a silent auction and raffle.  We are happy to say that several thousand dollars were raised to further our programs for the next two years !

All in all, our Night in Tokaj was a great success, with over 100 in attendance.  Thanks to all for your support !

Bay Area’s Corvinus Chorus performed Hungarian chorale music at the 2018 fundraiser.
