Earlier this year, Sonoma’s Sister City Kaniv (Ukraine) received a much-needed back-up generator through a grant from USAID worth $1million (US). This outcome was the result of persistent communication and coordination between the Kaniv City Council, Anatoly Leontyev, (President of the Kaniv Friendship Association), and many others, including SSCA Board member Andrew Sorokowski. This project was over one year in the making and its completion means that our Sister City has a source of back-up power in case of attack. Local community support of SSCA makes a difference in the world.
