On October 21, 2019, the Sonoma City Council approved the use of donor bricks with donor names, to be placed around the Ting in Depot Park. This moves the bricks from the prior plan to have them in the walkway to the Ting. This compromise was reached at a meeting of a subcommittee of the City Council and a subgroup of the Sonoma-Penglai Sister City Committee. This will allow the Wine Country Chinese Legacy Project to move forward towards obtaining a building permit from the City of Sonoma. It will also allow for further funding using donor bricks, as maintenance costs will be needed in the future.
