Sonoma Sister Cities Association (SSCA) will begin 2018 with new President George McKale.  If that name sounds familiar, it might be because he’s also Sonoma’s City Historian.  Having previously served as the SSCA Treasurer, George is familiar with SSCA and is extremely supportive of its mission.  “I am a true believer in President Eisenhower’s vision, where citizens from “different cultures could understand, appreciate and celebrate their differences while building partnerships that would lessen the chance of new conflicts.”  As SSCA’s new President, I hope to encourage each of our sister cities to continue to pursue these goals in 2018/2019.”

George will continue to serve as the Sonoma-Aswan (Egypt) Sister City Committee Chair.

SSCA is also welcoming Cheri Burgi as the new Treasurer.   Cheri has worked for the past two years as SSCA’s bookkeeper.  With George accepting the role of President, the SSCA Board was very pleased that Cheri wanted to serve as an officer in the organization.

Cheri Burgi, New SSCA Treasurer

George and Cheri join Hans Steuck, SSCA Vice-President, as the slate of officers for 2018.  As of press time, the position of Board Secretary is still open.  If you are interested in applying for this position, please contact George McKale at 707.509.3751.
