(Editor’s Note:  Now that we are in the 4th Quarter of 2026, I thought it would be nice to post some holiday recipes from each of our Sister Cities.)

First Up:  An Egyptian recipe that might be served in Aswan.

Kabab Halla

This recipe can be found on the website Linsfood.com, where you can find instructions for creating a variety of Middle Eastern culinary dishes.   Here’s an excerpt from the website about Kabab Halla  (Braised Beef with Onions):

“This iconic Egyptian dish is a favourite comfort food for many. And despite its simplicity, kabab halla often makes an appearance on the celebration table, whether that’s birthdays, Eid for the Muslims and Christmas or the Epiphany Feast for the Coptic Christians.”

Please note the the recipe calls for the spice blend known as “Baharat”.  You can make your own, order it on line, or even find it at some Safeways.

Happy eating!
