We’re delighted that you’re interested in the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister City Committee.

Our mission:

To create bonds for both Hungarian and American economic and cultural exchanges to benefit both cities.

The goal of the Committee is to promote mutual respect and understanding between Tokaj and Sonoma through access to wine culture, education, business, trade and partnership building.

The Sonoma Tokaj Sister Cities Committee was established in April of 2012, by local and Bay Area Hungarians under the sponsorship of Jean-Charles Boisset, owner of Buena Vista Winery.

We have an active committee with multiple projects at any given time. Current projects include:

  • Student/intern exchange program – biannual intern exchanges with our counterparts in Tokaj.
  • Educational exchange programs for committee members – our members have visited Tokaj and we have hosted our counterparts in Sonoma. The most recent delegation included five high school students from Tokaj and their chaperones.
  • Cultural Education – we host learning programs that educate the community on Hungarian history and culture, including a commemoration of the 60thanniversary of the Hungarian Revolution.
  • Scholarship program for Sonoma Valley high school – we contribute to a scholarship fund sponsored by the Sonoma Sister Cities Association, to help fund the college studies of a Sonoma Valley student who excels in language studies.
  • Fundraisers – all proceeds from our fundraisers benefit these programs and showcase both Sonoma and Tokaj as leading wine regions and cultural assets.

We’d love you to participate:
