To fulfill this mission, the Aswan Committee cultivates, develops and promotes cross-city relationships with individuals, groups, and organizations in areas such as business, technology, healthcare, housing and urban development, environment, arts, culture, tourism and education.
The Sonoma-Aswan Sister City Committee operates under the auspices of the Sonoma Sister Cities Association (SSCA), a registered nonprofit organization (SSCA federal tax identification #68-0108056).
Goals:
- To develop programs and activities between Sonoma and Aswan
- To promote international tourism
- To support international trade and economic partnerships between Sonoma and Aswan
- To support increased understanding of international health and education issues
- To support artistic and cultural programs and partnerships
Objectives:
- To provide assistance to support Sister City programs
- To serve as hosts and international guides to Sister City delegations
Projects and Initiatives:
- Arts, Cultural and Tourism Programs
- Environmental Development
- Education – Sonoma State University, Sonoma Unified School District
- Health Initiatives and Telemedicine Conferences
