In addition to the sunflower, which is the national flower of Ukraine, the national bird is the common nightingale, while the national plant is the Kalyna (Viburnum opulus) which is a type of shrub that produces flowers and then berries.

Like Sonoma, our sister city Kaniv held an international film festival from 2016 through 2021. We look forward to the day it returns and perhaps Sonoma and Kaniv can work on a film project together.
