Our two wine interns from Tokaj, Peter Majoros and Kristof  Peto, arrived the week of August 21 and were greeted by Tokaj Sister Cities Committee Co-Chairs Sylvia and Joan Toth.  Fortunately the  Committee found a perfect place for them to stay while they were here.  Debra and Brian Eagle offered their cottage and home to them, and luckily this allowed them to stay in one location as they only had one car.  On August 27th we held a welcome party for them at Joan’s house so they could meet the other Committee members.  The high school students from Tokaj also attended – it was more of a farewell for them, as they ended their visit to California and flew back to Hungary on August 30th.  Of course, the menu was typical American fare – grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings!

Addendum:  Due to the recent terrible fires in Sonoma and Napa Valleys, Peter and Kristof have been working mostly at DeLoach Winery.  They are safe and did not have to evacuate, although for a while they were packed into their car so they could leave at a moment’s notice.  They are working even harder now given that the grapes are coming in faster than originally expected.  What an experience for them!
