Our dear friend and long time Chamson member, Ivy Cardinaux, passed away September 2, 2015. She was 92 years old. In 1987, Ivy began dedicating her time to the sister city relationship with Chambolle Musigny. By volunteering to prepare French dishes for countless fundraisers like the Soups of France and the Bastille Day parties, she helped to revitalize our organization. She hosted members of the delegation when the French group visited Sonoma for the first time. For the 40th year anniversary of our “jumelage”, she and her husband Henri traveled to Chambolle-Musigny and were hosted by Paulette Brunet. From there, no year went by without Ivy sending handwritten Christmas cards to all her friends in Chambolle. She had a Bachelor’s Degree in French and served on our board for many years. She and her husband Henri were gracious hosts and opened their Sonoma home to all members for many holiday dinners and membership meetings. In 1996, after her husband Henri passed away, we established the Henri Cardinaux Scholarship Fund to recognize their contributions. For nearly 30 years, Ivy served to develop and sustain our treasured relationship with our French sister city in Chambolle-Musigny. May she rest in peace.
